T ypically, Kia as a name comes from the African root and doesn’t reference the automaker. Similar situation as the name Aston. All the rest are 100% for the brands.

That moronicity is common in the PNW as well, maybe second to the “aiden” family.
Not sure what inspires these names, I suspect the hover/bulldozer parents think they are “strong ” or some such bullshit.

I’m pretty sure some of those have been used as given names for a long time, but most of those brands have been around long enough that it’s hard to say which came first without doing research .
I think I prefer these over the Game of Thrones names that have been popping up in the past few years. “Well, little Cersei , you were named after a woman I saw on TV who ba - uhh, you know, never mind .”

The thing that drives me the craziest in the use of boy names on girls. I mean, I can’t stand the ones you listed, but the gender switching drives me up the wall. There’s a reason people use these ridiculously masculine names for boys; if you don’t, they’ll be teased for their “girl name” by the time they’re old enough to start kindergarten. My brother suffered it in the late-80s to early-90s after some stupid TV show gender-switched his name for a character and the idiots picked it up, to the point that today it’s very rarely given to boys at all.

I think there’s a large expanse of names between names that don’t fit with gender expectations and might generate teasing , and hyperconforming names that seem to guarantee a medusamom and bulldozerdad pressuring a kid until they become burnt out at their given sport or activity and then continue the abusive parent tradition as adults.
